The Smithells Careers website is linked directly to the Smithells®NZ website, to provide access for Smithells® Careers clients to the information and questionnaires on the First Careers website.

Before linking from the Smithells Careers website to the Smithells®NZ website, you are recommended to read Smithells Careers Terms and Conditions (as set out below), Privacy Policy, Disclaimer and Copyright Statement (all on bottom bar of Home Page).

When you link from the Smithells Careers website to the Smithells®NZ website, and before you complete registration, payment and login requirements on the Smithells®NZ website, you are recommended to read and required to accept Smithells®NZ Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, Disclaimer and Copyright Statement.

  • The Smithells Careers website is located at www.smithellscareers.co.nz and is accessible through one other URL, www.smithellscareers.com. The Smithells Careers website has a direct link to the Smithells®NZ website, firstcareers.co.nz and its associated URL, firstcareers.com.
  • Smithells Careers is the trading name of Ta & JJ Smithells Limited.
  • Any use of the words "we" or "us" or “our” in these Terms and Conditions refers to Smithells Careers.
  • Every time you contact Smithells Careers, or link from our website to the Smithells®NZ website, you may provide personal and/or vocational information about yourself. Please read our Privacy Policy to be clear on your rights in respect of your information.
  • Once you complete the Smithells® Career Planning Questionnaires or Update Questionnaires, the emailed Career Planning Data Summary or Update Summary you receive is your property, for personal use for career planning purposes.
  • If you omit to complete the Questionnaires within the two month time allowance for completion, you can contact Smithells®NZ through their website, www.smithellsnz.co.nz, for a further month’s time allowance at the cost of NZ$10.00 (ten dollars only).
  • Where, after completing the Smithells® Career Planning Questionnaires or Update Questionnaires, you request an appointment with either of the Smithells® Professionals working for Smithells Careers, you accept the wait time provided by whichever Smithells® Professional you select.
  • When you request an appointment with a Smithells® Professional working for Smithells Careers, you accept by making that request, that the Smithells® Professional you select, is emailed a copy of your Career Planning Data Summary or Update Summary, to use in their face-to-face work with you.
  • The Smithells® Professional working for Smithells Careers manage their own work and clients. Your relationship with your individual Smithells® Professional is one based on honesty, mutual respect, teamwork and trust. 
  • If you have any concerns or complaints relating to your appointment with Tim Smithells or Juliana Smithells, please contact Smithells Careers in the first instance by email, telephone or fax. For advice and suggestions, click on the FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) menu button on the Home Page of the Smithells®NZ website and read the final two FAQs.
  • In terms of your protection as a consumer, Smithells Careers and First Careers (trading as Smithells®NZ) adhere to the principles outlined in the New Zealand Model Code for Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce (2000). These include the protections available to you under the Fair Trading Act (1986) and Consumer Guarantees Act (1993).
  • Please note that the Smithells®NZ website contains material, including the Smithells® Career Planning Questionnaires and Smithells® Update Questionnaires, text, images, software, and registered trademarks (including the ‘river’ logo) which are subject to copyright and other intellectual property rights licensed to First Careers. Please read the Disclaimer and Copyright Statement (see bottom bar on Home Page) of Smithells®NZ website for further information.
  • Nothing you do on or in relation to the Smithells Careers website will transfer any intellectual property rights to you or give you permission to use or distribute any material on or from our website for any commercial or public purpose, except with our specific authorization in writing.
  • You must not infringe the intellectual property rights of Smithells Careers as the owner of the Smithells Careers website, by copying, altering, printing, circulating, changing or engineering change in the material, including the software.
  • Smithells Careers and its suppliers make every reasonable effort to ensure the Smithells Careers website remains available and accessible to visitors and users. From time to time, the Smithells Careers website may be inaccessible.  This may be beyond Smithells Careers’ control, or due to needed maintenance, upgrades or improvements.
  • Smithells Careers makes every reasonable effort to reply in a timely manner, to all emails from Smithells Careers clients, and from other visitors to our website. Your submitting an email for information, advice or support means you consent to Smithells Careers replying to your request by email.
  • Smithells Careers does not monitor or edit the information you submit in your emails.  However, we reserve the right to access or review any client information, and if found to be offensive or unacceptable, to remove that information and to disable access to that information.
